As snow blankets the Northeastern United States, I've been staying warm by drinking Earl Grey and visiting twitter. I stumbled upon Olivia Palermo who warned of the addictive nature of boutiques.com. I configured the Megan Joy of Aussie-Blue boutique and began to add gems designed by masterminds like Mark Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Valentino but also included pieces from J.Crew, Forever 21 and Free People.
Meticulously handpicking every item in my online boutique was liberating. Viewing every item inspired by my personal style on screen was quite different than peering into my closet with a side view of hanging clothes.
I realized that not only have I incorporated black into my wardrobe, it has become my staple color for winter, especially for bottom components like skirts and pants. I adore ladylike details such as bows, sequin, ruffles, zippers and gold hardware on my full skirts and boxy handbags. Classic stripes amongst a sea of blues, whites and creams maintain a constant presence in my wardrobe throughout all seasons. Boyish Oxfords and button-up shirts are dominant mainly during cooler weather, while sporty tennis shoes come out to play when the sun is beaming and strolling through cityscapes becomes a revived pastime.

This morning I decided to dress like I had awaken to milk a cow rather than buy groceries from the supermarket. The amiable staff and colorful displays found at Trader Joe's make it a unique shopping destination. I perused through the produce and dairy wearing shoes by Joe's Jeans, flannel shirt by J.Crew and jeans by DKNY.
